About the Australian STEM Competition

The ASC is a national independent not-for-profit that inspires Year 7 students. After a successful pilot in 2025, the competition is open to all Year 7 students in 2026. It combines interactive, game-like questions with rigorous assessment and reporting to engage all stakeholders in STEM.

The Role

As a STEM Education Specialist, you will provide expert advice and operational support to the ASC. This is a flexible, work-from-home opportunity available Australia-wide for current Australian teachers. We are aiming to create a diverse talent pool. While alignment with the ASC mission is essential, we don't expect every candidate to meet every criterion.

Key Responsibilities

Develop ideas for interactive, curriculum-aligned questions
Create scoring rubrics for constructed response questions
Mark student responses according to established rubrics and criteria

Essential Criteria

Current teacher in an Australian secondary school
Experience teaching STEM or STEM-related subjects
Exceptional communication skills with an ability to influence stakeholders

Desirable

Leading teacher, domain lead, or coordinator
Experience teaching Year 7 students
Experience with the stem.org.au teacher platform and sample questions
