Principal Advisor, STEM Education
About the Australian STEM Competition
The ASC is a national independent not-for-profit committed to advancing student engagement in STEM. We develop and deliver a psychometrically validated, interactive online assessment for Year 7 students, designed to ignite interest in STEM well before subject decisions are made. Following a successful pilot with 500 students across 10 schools, the ASC is now open to all Year 7 cohorts nationally in 2026.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a small number of experienced Australian school principals to join as Principal Advisors. This is a senior advisory role: you will help shape a national initiative at a critical stage of its development. Your practical, on-the-ground knowledge of how schools operate, how teachers engage with external programs, and what students actually respond to is something no amount of research can substitute for.
What You'll Do
- Provide strategic input on how the ASC can better serve schools and students
- Advise on school engagement, outreach, and adoption strategies
- Offer perspective on curriculum alignment and how STEM initiatives fit within school priorities
Who We're Looking For
- Current or recent principal or deputy principal at an Australian secondary school
- Genuine interest in STEM education and student engagement
- Willingness to contribute a few hours per quarter on a flexible basis
